Late Night Ponderings

“Truly He is my rock and my salvation; He is my fortress, I will never be shaken”

Psalms 62:2

God has been taking me on a journey through the Psalms and Oh my He’s teaching me so much. David was a man of God with many enemies, but yet he had one loyal friend, God. There were so many times he would ask God, “Why have you forgotten me?”, It was like he was saying, “God, if I ever needed  you its now.” Does that sound familiar? But yet after asking brutally honest questions, He would thank God for His unfailing love and would realize that truly He is the one He will trust in.

In life they are so many things calling our names: money, love, titles, power; but yet when we die, these things will vanish and become nothing. Our money will go to our families, our titles will be given to other worthy people, love? What is the love of another person, when you haven’t accepted the unfailing love of our Heavenly Father, in fact He was the Creator of love. I don’t want to be remembered for the amount of money I have in my account, but for the amount of treasures I’ve laid up in Heaven.

The first week I was home(Canada) I was walking down memory lane. I was thinking about my High school years. I tried on my grad dress(it still fit). 🙂 And I looked through some of my high school papers, and I was in awe at what God was orchestrating then.

1. Throughout your llifetime, what do you not want to spend the majority of your time, energy, and resources “chasing”?

Money, possessions, sports

2. What do you want to spend your life chasing after?

Jesus, telling others about Jesus, caring for the orphans, and being a woman after God’s own heart

3. Why do you want to chase after these things?

In Matt. 6:19-21 it says that we should lay up treasures in Heaven and not on earth, because things on this earth will rust and decay, but the things of Heaven won’t rust, won’t be destroyed, thieves won’t be able to steal. Nothing can destroy the things of Heaven! And that is why I want to chase after these things because it isn’t empty; its fulfilling.

This was from a paper where we were to reflect and imagine what we would want an angel to say about our lives, what we lived for and believed in.

It was written a year and a half before I made the biggest step of faith to go to Kenya. I was in high school, asking God what He wants for my life, but yet unknowingly I was dreaming and writing it.

Somehow I knew it wouldn’t be easy.

Somehow I knew some people just wouldn’t understand.

Somehow I knew God was calling me to something bigger and I knew it was going to be fulfilling.

My dear little sisters! I love them so much!

That is the God I serve. Without knowing, God was speaking to me and I was prophesying to myself. Yes, it hasn’t been an easy journey, but its been a fulfilling one.

I love how David ends Psalms 62.

VS: 11 and 12 “One thing God has spoken to me, two things have I heard, “Power belongs to you, God, and with you, Lord is unfailing love”, and “You reward everyone according to what they have done.”

There is one thing that God has told me, but the two things I’ve heard is that God is powerful and He wants to give me unfailing love and what I am doing? I am not doing it in vain.

And I give God ALL the glory and honor, because He is my ROCK and my SALVATION and I couldn’t have done the things I have done without Him.
